Nepal and Rug
In the Himalaya mountain range, rug making has been a tradition carried through since ancient times. Some have been made as a necessity to protect inhabitants from the harsh cold; others have been used to decorate Buddhist temples. The sophisticated construction techniques have been cultivated over time. From spinning of yarn to weaving, Nepalese village folk use a step-by-step process to carefully hand-make their rugs. Employing hand-selected natural fibers, the rugs conjure an atmosphere of simplicity, and bring a space to life with their sophisticated designs.

Wool
Possessing water-repelling qualities, wool also excels in its ability to absorb moisture, thus rendering it ideal for use in rugs. Wool from sheep living amongst the harsh climates of Tibet has fibers that are long and durable. This type of wool makes the finest quality rugs. Also with excellent elasticity, its natural suppleness can be enjoyed for many years.

Nettle
In a tradition lasting over a thousand years and handed down through generations of Himalayans, scrupulously refined fibers of wild nettles create a yarn with a soft sheen similar to that of silk. Becoming softer with use, the material boasts excellent absorption and heat-radiating qualities. The rugs can be enjoyed year-round, irrespective of the season.
